Who We Are

The Bullitt County Animal Control is the primary sheltering and enforcement agency for domestic animals in Bullitt County, Kentucky.

The animal control center was established by Bullitt County Fiscal Court in accordance with the Kentucky Revised Statutes. Our mission is to provide services which safeguard the public and to humanely house and care for the animals in our care; to protect the animals of the community from abuse and neglect and to provide it’s citizens with information concerning responsible ownership.

Services

The employees of the Bullitt County Animal Control are here to serve and protect the residents of Bullitt County. We provide such services as stray dog and cat pick up, neglect/abuse investigation and much more.

We have an open door policy for the residents of Bullitt County that are no longer able to care for their pets, but before surrendering a pet, please contact us; as there may be a simple solution to the reason you need to surrender your pet. Because of the open door policy, the animal control center does humanely euthanize; however, we do have an adoption program and work closely with reputable rescues and no kill shelters. The adoption fees are as follows: dog adoption $100; fee includes, spay/neuter, DA2PP, rabies {if old enough} and county license; cat adoption is $65, which includes spay/neuter, rabies {if old enough} and a county license. To see a list of our adoptable animals click here.

If your pet is missing, please contact us as soon as possible so we may assist you in anyway we can to reunite you and your furry family member.

Pet License

In accordance with KRS. 258.135 Bullitt County has a pet license program. All dogs and cats which reside in Bullitt County must be licensed. The licenses are available at the Bullitt County Animal Control Center and the Judge Executive’s office. In order to obtain a license you will need to present proof of rabies vaccinations and spay/neuter. The licenses are valid for one fiscal year {June to June}.
